As the company that invented low-loss optical fiber in 1970, Corning remains the world benchmark for fiber optic cable quality and performance. We supply and install Corning InfiniCor multimode, SMF-28 ultra single-mode, Pretium EDGE high-density fiber connectivity, and Unicam field-installable connectors for enterprise, data centre, and telecoms infrastructure projects across Dubai and the UAE.
Corning invented optical fiber. The SMF-28 single-mode fiber that built the world's telecoms backbone, and the InfiniCor OM3 and OM4 multimode fibers that enable 10G, 40G, and 100G Ethernet in modern data centres, are Corning products. When Dubai consultants and clients specify fiber cabling, Corning is frequently the named brand in the specification — particularly for healthcare, financial, and government projects where the fiber backbone will carry critical traffic for 25+ years and the tolerance for uncertainty about performance is zero.
Corning cable is manufactured to geometric precision standards that generic fiber manufacturers do not match: core diameter tolerance, numerical aperture consistency, and coating geometry are all tighter than IEC and TIA minimums. This precision translates directly to lower insertion loss at connectors and splices, fewer marginal links in the installed system, and extended reach headroom for future higher-speed transceivers that will use the same fiber infrastructure.
Corning InfiniCor OM3 (50/125 µm) and OM4 (50/125 µm) multimode fiber cable for enterprise backbone and data centre applications. InfiniCor OM3 supports 10GbE to 300 m and 1GbE to 1000 m. OM4 extends 10GbE to 550 m and supports 40GbE/100GbE to 150 m. Available in tight-buffered indoor, distribution, and armoured outdoor variants. LSZH jacket available for indoor fire safety compliance. The standard multimode fiber choice for enterprise comms room-to-comms room backbone in Dubai commercial buildings.
Corning SMF-28 Ultra OS2 9/125 µm single-mode fiber — the global standard for campus and long-distance single-mode fiber runs. Zero-water-peak attenuation. Best-in-class chromatic dispersion specification. SMF-28 is the fiber of choice for campus backbone runs between buildings, for WAN/ISP handoff connections, and for any intra-building run where 550 m multimode reach is insufficient. Direct compatibility with all major transceiver manufacturers' SFP and QSFP single-mode modules. Available in LSZH, PVC, and armoured outdoor cable constructions.
Corning Unicam connectors are the premier field-termination solution for fiber installations. Unlike conventional fibre connectors requiring epoxy and polishing, or fusion splice-on connectors requiring a fusion splicer, Unicam connectors use a factory-polished stub fiber with a pre-set index-matching gel — terminated in seconds with the Corning Unicam hand tool at a fraction of the cost of a fusion splicer. Available in LC, SC, ST, and FC styles for both multimode and single-mode fiber. Typical insertion loss < 0.1 dB. Industry-proven for 20+ years in enterprise installations worldwide.
Corning Pretium EDGE is Corning's high-density fiber management system for data centre and enterprise comms room applications. Pretium EDGE 1U and 2U fiber housings accept Corning CCH connector housings and adapter packs in LC, SC, MTP, and CS connector styles. Ultra-high density: up to 288 LC ports in a 2U housings using CS (Corning's compact duplex connector). The complete Corning pre-terminated fibre backbone system: trunk cables, cassettes, and housings — factory polished, tested, and packaged for rapid site installation with zero field termination.
Corning MTP-12 and MTP-24 trunk cables for high-density data centre fiber. MTP Elite connectors with ultra-low insertion loss (≤ 0.35 dB per mated pair) for 40GbE and 100GbE parallel optic transmission. Pre-terminated trunk cables available in standard lengths (3 m, 5 m, 10 m, 15 m) or custom lengths manufactured to order. Compatible with 40G BiDi, 40G SR4, 100G SR10, and 100G SR4 parallel transceiver modules. The fast-path to high-density data centre fiber backbone infrastructure — no field termination, plug trunk cables into Pretium EDGE cassettes and the system is active.
Corning factory-polished multimode OM3/OM4 and single-mode OS2 fiber patch cords in LC-LC, LC-SC, SC-SC, ST-LC, ST-SC, and MTP-LC (fanout) styles. OFNP (plenum) and LSZH jacket options. Corning patch cords are manufactured and tested to TIA-568 and IEC 61753 standards, with individual test reports available. Using matched Corning patch cords with installed Corning backbone fiber and Corning Pretium EDGE connectivity provides consistent end-to-end optical loss budget performance across all channels.
We calculate the optical power budget for every fiber link before installation: transceiver transmit power margin, maximum allowable attenuation, number of connectors and splices in the link, cable attenuation coefficient per metre multiplied by actual cable length, and the resulting end-to-end link budget compared to the minimum required receiver sensitivity. This determines whether multimode or single-mode is required for each specific run, and confirms that the chosen transceiver and fiber combination will work with margin over the installed link length.
Fiber optic cable requires care that copper cabling tolerates better: minimum bend radius of 20x cable OD under installation tension, 10x at rest; no twisting or kinking; cable pulling tension within the cable's rated tensile load; and no crush loads. We pull fiber through dedicated conduit or in the top-tier of separated cable containment, with bend formers at every directional change. Correctly handled Corning cables arrive at their endpoints with zero fiber breaks and no micro-bend attenuation contribution from installation stress.
Field terminations using Corning Unicam connectors are performed by certified fiber technicians. All installed channels are tested with Tier 1 (optical loss, length) testing at both wavelengths (850 nm and 1300 nm for multimode; 1310 nm and 1550 nm for single-mode) per TIA-568 and ISO 14763-3. OTDR testing is performed for all backbone runs to characterise connector and splice events and detect any micro-bend or physical damage events in the cable run. Full test records provided in the handover documentation.
Use Corning InfiniCor OM3/OM4 multimode when: all fiber runs stay within a single building, distances are under 300–550 m, the network is all-SFP/QSFP with short-wavelength (850 nm VCSEL) transceivers, and the budget for transceivers is a significant consideration (multimode short-wavelength transceivers are substantially cheaper than single-mode LR transceivers).
Use Corning SMF-28 single-mode when: runs cross between buildings on a campus, any run exceeds 550 m, WAN/ISP handoff connections are involved, the network uses single-mode DWDM or CWDM multiplexers, or the long-term plan includes upgrading to 400G+ where single-mode is the only viable media.
Corning Pretium EDGE high-density connectivity with MTP trunk cables for structured data centre cabling. Top-of-rack to end-of-row or core switch connections. Pre-terminated and tested at the factory — rapid deployment without field splicing or termination delays.
Corning SMF-28 OS2 single-mode inter-building backbone with Unicam SC or LC connectors in fibre distribution frames at each building entry. Supports 10GbE, 25GbE, and 100GbE campus links between buildings on a single Dubai business park campus.
Corning LSZH OM4 multimode for hospital horizontal fiber to imaging suites and data-intensive diagnostic equipment rooms. OS2 backbone between hospital buildings for centralised EPR (Electronic Patient Record) system connectivity and DICOM medical imaging data.
Corning SMF-28 for last-mile GPON/XGS-PON fiber distribution network deployments in Dubai residential and commercial developments. Armoured outdoor Corning cable for buried and aerial distribution runs. Corning cable is the standard for Etisalat and Du FTTH infrastructure.
