Access control system design begins with the door schedule — mapping every controlled door to its access groups, time zones, and reader type. For a Suprema system, we determine which doors require biometric-only, card-only, or multi-factor (card + biometric) authentication based on the security zone each door controls. Server room access typically requires multi-factor (card + fingerprint). Lobby reception might require card-only or face recognition for a contactless, frictionless experience. This planning prevents under-specifying critical doors and over-engineering low-risk access points.
Suprema biometric systems require user enrolment — capturing fingerprint templates and/or facial profiles for each user before the system goes live. We manage bulk enrolment sessions for large organisations (50–1,000+ users) using Suprema's mobile enrolment app, which allows HR staff to enrol users on a tablet and synchronise to BioStar 2 without IT involvement. Access groups are configured to mirror the client's organisational structure. We provide a documented enrolment procedure for the client's HR team to follow for future new-hire onboarding.
Suprema devices communicate over TCP/IP (BioStar 2) or Wiegand/RS-485 (legacy controller integration). We configure network device discovery in BioStar 2, verify TCP/IP communication to each reader, test all door relay outputs (lock, exit button, door position sensor), configure anti-passback rules, and run full access test scenarios before handover.
